Junior Christmas Carol Concert - December 08

This Christmas all the junior classes will be performing in a Christmas concert. All the classes have a theme - Class 3 is Christmas in Tudor times, Class 4 is a Victorian Christmas, Class 5 Christmas in the future and Class 6 is Christmas in World War 2.
We will be singing songs related to our topics and we have all been working really hard to learn the song lyrics. There will also be some readings about the story of Jesus.
We have been practising during assemblies and in our classrooms.

We are all excited about the concert but yet some are nervous. Please come and see us !!!!

The concert will be on the 11th December at Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church.

Year 5 Space Assembly - November 08

Year 5 did a stunning assembly on Thursday 13th November. The assembly was on space as it's their topic.
They had a brilliant fashion show where they modelled the space helmets they made in DT ( see our work pages ) and they told us some interesting facts about the different planets in our solar system.
Some of the children performed a play about the first man on the moon - Neil Armstrong.
It was a fantastic assembly and the children worked really hard and so did Mrs Love organising it.

Healthy Schools Award - September 08

This year Lane End achieved the Healthy Schools Award.

Four of the Year 6 children went to the Town Hall to give a presentation to the Mayor of Stockport and all the other schools about all the healthy activities we do at Lane End.

We went to ask Mr Twigg what he thought about the award.

Roving Reporter -When did you decide you wanted to achieve the Healthy Schools award ?
Mr Twigg - It was 2 years ago. I knew the school was working hard, so then I knew it was time to try and achieve the award.

Roving Reporter - How did you feel today?
Mr Twigg - I felt really proud because we'd achieved something as a school and as a team.

Roving Reporter - What do you think contributed to us gaining the award.
Mr Twigg - I think the Healthy Fortnight and Walk to School Week really helped Lane End win the award

Roving Reporter - What do you hope to do in the future to improve the school ?
Mr Twigg - We hope to do lots of things including the school garden which will hopefully be completed next summer.

Mr Twigg seemed really pleased about the Healthy Schools Award !
