April - Newsletter 19 (22nd April 2015)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the summer term. It is lovely to start the term with such good weather and it allows us to make good use of our field, garden and school grounds in the children’s learning.

Holiday dates for next year – We are finalising the INSET days for next year and once this is done we will send home a full list of term dates and holidays next week. In the meantime the Stockport term dates for the following year are always available on the Stockport Council website, there is a link to this at the bottom of the calendar page on our website (Parents – Calendar).

Assembly Dates for this term (all starting at 10:10am and with tea and coffee in the community room provided by the PTA beforehand):

Thursday 11th June – Year 4

Wednesday 17th June – Year 5

Thursday 18th June – Year 2

Wednesday 24th June – Year 3

Thursday 25th June – Reception

Country Dancers – please could anyone who hasn’t returned their skirt bring it back to school ASAP and give it to Mrs Chamberlain, thank you.

PTA – there is a PTA newsletter on the reverse of this newsletter. As the Summer fair is approaching please let us know if you can help out on the day. We also have our three non-uniform days when children bring in items for the fair. The first one is next Friday (1st May) and details are on the PTA newsletter. Thank you for your help with this.

Year 5 Trip to Scarborough – The Year 5’s had a very successful residential trip to Scarborough which incorporated activities in both Scarborough and York related to their school work. They stayed at the Clarence Gardens Hotel which takes a lot of school groups. It was lovely to receive an email from the manager of the hotel which said, “We can say with utmost conviction they were the best behaved and mannered group of children (and staff of course) we have had and are a credit.”

‘The Book Factor’ – Year 4 and 5 are taking part in ‘The Book Factor’ along with 4 other Stockport schools. This has been organised by Simply Books in Bramhall and involves the children reading a variety of age appropriate books, working on these in their English lessons and then voting on their favourites. It is culminating in a Book Awards ceremony for all of the Year 4 and 5 children at Stockport Plaza in May.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
