Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to the summer term – I hope you all had a lovely Easter break.
The table below gives you details of each class’ theme for this term. Knowing your child’s theme should help you talk to them about their work. Sometimes there is just one main theme for a term and sometimes two. The themes this term are:
Class |
Theme |
Reception |
Animals / Water |
1 |
Where in the World is Barnaby Bear? |
2 |
Life Cycles |
3 |
Map Detectives / Flying High |
4 |

5 |
A Comparison of Cheadle Hulme and Seaside Towns |
6 |
Challenges |
You have the details of your child’s curriculum in the ‘Booklet for Parents’ which you received with your child’s report (or in the Reception parent’s pack) – this is a useful reference throughout the year and will help you to help your child. There is also a link to this booklet through the website: www.laneend.stockport.sch.uk (Click on the ‘Our School’ – ‘Curriculum’ link and then choose the year group you want to look at). Please also remember to have a regular look on the VLE for class and curriculum activities and support.
Fundraising – www.easyfundraising.org.uk We are in greater need than ever of funds to continue to provide the best possible education and resources we can for your children. Budgets are getting tighter and every bit helps so I wanted to make you aware of a fundraising website we have registered with. Easy fundraising has links to a vast range of online shopping sites, from Amazon to John Lewis. Every time you purchase from one of these sites a donation is given directly to school. It is really easy to sign up to and if lots of people do it could make a big difference to our fundraising. There is a toolbar you can download which will let you know if a shopping site you are on will donate money to school. Please help by registering:
Thank you very much for your help with this – it could really make a difference.
Maths Week – Maths Week was a big success and generated some great enthusiasm around maths and the challenges which were set for the children over the week. We’ll be adding some photos of the week to the website soon. Thank you to Mrs Love for organising and to the staff and children for their enthusiasm!
Pole2Pole – 6th to 26th May. Mr Vallance is organising a scoot and cycle to school event as part of a Stockport wide competition. Each child who scoots or cycles to school will earn km’s towards our total, with the aim of going pole to pole! More information will follow from Mr Vallance soon.
We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.
Yours sincerely,
James Twigg
