December - Newsletter 11 (16th December 2016)

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’ve had a busy time with lots of performances and all of the children and classes doing us proud.

Our choir sang beautifully at Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church’s Christmas Carol Concert. Our Year 1 and 2 started off our school Christmas performances brilliantly with the excellent Lights, Camel, Action! Our musicians did a great job performing at our music Concert with Ms Yates and Mr Gosling. Our Juniors (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) were fantastic at our Junior Carol Concert and our Reception children performed an enchanting nativity for us today to finish the performances off perfectly! Well done to all the children and staff for their hard work and we are very pleased that so many parents/carers and relatives were able to join us and enjoy the performances – thank you for your support. I will put some pictures of all of our Christmas events on my final newsletter of the year next week and on our website soon.

We’ve had our Christmas Jumper day today and raised £186.70 for Save the Children – thank you! We also raised £240.64 for Millie’s Trust from donations at our Junior Carol Concert and £50.25 for the PTA from our other events – thank you all.

Christmas Parties - We have our Christmas parties next week. It is on Monday morning for Years 3 and 4 and Monday afternoon for Years 5 and 6. Year 3 and 4 can come in their party clothes (please make sure they are warm and durable enough for outdoor play later in the day) and Year 5 and 6 should come in school uniform with their party clothes in a bag so they can get ready for the afternoon. The Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 party is on Tuesday morning and the children can come in their party clothes (once again please make sure they are warm and durable enough for outdoor play later in the day).

School Christmas Dinner is on Wednesday next week (21st December). All children who have a school dinner will receive this along with children who normally have a packed lunch but have ordered the Christmas dinner. As is our tradition, every child, whether having a school dinner or packed lunch, is invited to bring a cracker in on this day to add to the festivities.

Toy Day – All children (infants and juniors) can bring in a sensible toy or game on Thursday which they’ll be able to play with for part of the day. It is the children’s responsibility to look after their toy so nothing too precious please! Any electronic devices etc. must only have age appropriate games on them and mobile phones don’t count as toys! Our Sports Ambassadors from Year 5 and 6 are also organising a ‘Santa run’ on this day – it costs £1 for the children to enter and the money is going towards playtime equipment. They have sent home a separate note with more details.

We break up after school on Thursday 22nd December and the children are due back in school on Monday 9th January.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
