February - Newsletter 14

Dear Parents/Carers,

New on the VLE

We have some new exciting additions to our VLE. Espresso is a fantastic online learning tool which we have subscribed to for all of the children to use at home and school. There are Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 areas each of which contain fun learning resources for the whole curriculum, including educational games and videos. Everyone can log in using the same username and password which is shown on the VLE.

Challenge Zone – We have created a new ‘Challenge Zone’ to link with our Growth Mindset work and problem solving focus in maths. Scroll down on the homepage to find it. There are puzzles and problems to solve, games to play and presentations to get your children motivated and thinking. We will keep adding to the area - please have a look!

Staff News - Julia Marnie will be leaving us at half term to explore new opportunities with her job in retail. We are really going to miss Mrs Marnie, who has been a fantastic teaching assistant and a great asset to the school and the children. We wish Mrs Marnie all the best as she embarks on her new job after the half term holidays.

Year 5 parents – a quick reminder that the Year 5 Parents’ Evenings are on Monday 6th (later evening) and Wednesday 8th of February (next week) – thank you for signing up, if you haven’t signed up already please do so ASAP, thank you. All other parents’ evenings are after half term (week beginning 6th March) and information about signing up will come home nearer the time.

Year 6 Robinwood Residential – Year 6 leave for Robinwood Activity Centre for three days at 8:30am on Monday morning (arriving at school for 8:20am). It is always a great trip and we are sure that they will all have a fantastic time.

PTA – the next meeting is on Monday 27th February at 7:30pm. We’re now making sure that the meetings only last an hour and, as always, everyone is welcome – we’d love to see you there! There is a PTA Sports Relief Disco on Friday 23rd March (separate infant and junior discos). A letter will be sent home with details after half term.

We break up for half term after school next Friday (10th February). The children are back in school on Tuesday 21st February (as the Monday is an INSET day).

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
