Dear Parents/Carers,

 Olympic Challenge Week

The countdown is nearly over and we are looking forward to our themed week starting on Monday. There will be lots of exciting things happening in school during the week, from our Olympic Opening Ceremony which the children have been preparing for (we don’t have room for spectators in the hall I’m afraid but will put some videos and pictures on our VLE and website for you) to taekwondo sessions and our Sports Days. The children will also be taking part in other challenges during the week and we will be encouraging them to use their ‘Growth Mindset’ and to enter each challenge in the right spirit. Olympic 5000m runner, Elle Baker, will be officially opening our Olympic Challenge Week on Monday and will be talking to the children about how she has overcome challenges in her career.

You are all invited to join us on our Sports Days which are going to be held on Wednesday 21st June (Juniors - starting at 9:30am) and Thursday 22nd June (Infants - starting at 1:30pm). Everyone should have

received a letter with more information earlier this week. Fingers crossed for good weather – we will put a sign out on the morning of the Sports Day with a decision about whether we can go ahead or not. Please bear with us if we do have to rearrange for the week after (see reserve dates in your letter) as a wet or slippery sports day really isn’t fun for anyone!

Well done to Hannah Booth in Year 3 and Eleana Matos in Year 1 who won our mascot competition. Their fantastic designs are shown above. Thank you to everyone who entered – we were very impressed with the standard produced. We were also very impressed with our Olympic torch competition entries and these have been put forward to a Stockport schools competition. In addition to this, Marcus Cobley’s torch (from Year 1) has been chosen to be used during our opening ceremony.

Woodwind assembly and Guitar Assembly - Mr Knowles is holding a Guitar assembly on Tuesday 26th

June at 10am for parents of children who are learning guitar. Mr Gosling is holding an assembly for parents of children who are learning flute, clarinet or saxophone on 28th June at 10am – these sets of

parents are very welcome to attend to see their children perform.

PTA

The next PTA meeting is on Monday (18th June) from 7:30-8:30pm – please join us if you can!

PTA Olympic Picnic – the PTA picnic is next Friday (24th June). A letter has gone home this week about

tickets – please return your reply slip ASAP. Thank you!

 Classes for Next Year

There are a few of changes for next year with 3 teachers moving year groups. All children will have a chance to meet their new teacher and we will be carrying out transition activities.   We also encourage you all to come to our Open Evening on Thursday 14th July to look at your child’s work, talk to your child’s current class teacher and meet their new teacher for next year.
