March - Newsletter 18 (1st March 2013)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Parents Evening – thank you to everyone who has already signed up for our Parents Evenings next week (w/c 4th March). If you haven’t made an appointment yet please do so on Monday as we’d like to see all parents.

World Book Day, Thursday 7th March  – the children can dress up as a book character or be ‘socktastic’ next Thursday. On World Book Day they will all receive a special World Book Day book voucher for £1 which they can spend in most book shops or which can be used to buy a special World Book day book. Go to www.worldbookday.com to find out more.

Readathon – we are starting our sponsored readathon to coincide with the week of World Book Day. Please see the letter which Mr Toyne has sent home today which will explain all. Thank you for your support.

iSing Pop – the children will be learning the songs and recording the CD next week ready for their concert on Thursday 14th March at 6pm. We’ve had a lot of ticket requests already, thank you. If you haven’t sent the form back and want tickets then please send it back as soon as you can (tickets cost £1.50, limited to two per family).

Steve Hartley will be in school on Friday 15th March talking about being a writer and running writing workshops with each class. If you’d like to order a book for him to sign for your child then please fill in the attached form from Simply Books who have organised the event. Thank you.

Red Nose Day – 15th March is also Red Nose Day and the children can ‘wear something funny for money’ in exchange for a donation of £1 on the day. I’m sure Steve Hartley will love the outfits too!

PTA Red Nose Day Disco – to raise money for Comic Relief the PTA have organised a disco. Infant disco: 6:15 – 7:15pm  Junior disco: 7:30 – 8:30pm. A letter is going home today for you to order tickets – tickets cost £2.50 each and all money raised goes to Comic Relief.

Well done to our Year 6 swimmers who came third in the swimming gala today!

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
