March - Newsletter 19 (11th March 2013)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Everyone looked fantastic for World Book Day – there were so many amazing costumes and ‘socktastic’ efforts too! We had the official opening of the library during a special World Book Day assembly and enjoyed some fun World Book Day activities during the day. There are a few photos below and a lot more on the school website – go to ‘School Events’ and then click on ‘Reading for Pleasure’.

iSing Pop – the children (and staff) put a great deal of effort and enthusiasm into learning the songs last week. We are in for a treat on Thursday evening (14th March) and I hope that you can make it. If you want tickets please make sure that you return your form tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. The concert should last about an hour, from 6pm – 7pm. The children should arrive at church at 5:45pm (not earlier please as we will need to organise them as they come in). The children need to wear school uniform for the concert. CD’s will be on sale on the night for £6 each.

We will be walking down to the church on Thursday afternoon for a rehearsal so please make sure that your child has a warm coat in school for the walk down.

Red Nose Day – 15th March - the children can ‘wear something funny for money’ in exchange for a donation of £1 to Comic Relief on the day. It could be a back to front school uniform, their pyjamas (and a warm coat!), dressing up clothes etc. etc. Steve Hartley will also be in school on Red Nose Day and if you’d like to order a book for him to sign, please return your form to school by Thursday – thank you. Please also remember to send in requests for Red Nose Day Disco tickets before Friday.

PTA – please have a look at the PTA newsletter which is being sent home today for details of PTA fundraising and events, thank you!

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

 Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
