March - Newsletter 18 (14th March 2014)

Dear Parents/Carers,

World Book Day – the children really enjoyed the day and looked they great. There were some wonderful costumes and well done to Liam McLaughlin and Eliza Godfrey who were our overall KS1 and KS2 winners. Liam looked brilliant as Sherlock Holmes and Eliza was the perfect Gangster Granny! All of the children received a voucher which can be used in book shops for £1 off any book or to claim your free World book Day book – there are ten different titles to choose from and something suitable for all ages. They run out on 30th March.  See www.worldbookday.com for more details.

Cat’s Cradle is captivating the children at break time at the moment! It started with Eleanor showing the Juniors in assembly last Friday and is now taking hold - mostly in the Juniors but some of the infants are starting too. I think that this is a fantastic craze – the children are practising over and over again to get the intricate combination of moves right and once they’ve achieved their outcome they are working to perfect it or get faster. After that they are challenging themselves by moving on to the next Cat’s Cradle – it’s pure Growth Mindset! The children are teaching each other, working together and problem solving as you can see in the photos below:

Fine Dining – we have started a new reward for the children who stand out each week as having excellent manners and behaviour in the dining room. Each week, the dinner staff choose 6 infants and 6 juniors to sit on the ‘fine dining’ table on Friday - complete with table cloth, side plates and Mrs Lau’s beautifully folded serviettes! Well done to all of those children who get chosen.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
