May - Newsletter 21 (8th May 2014)

Dear Parents/Carers,

PTA Summer Fair – we are staring preparations for our summer fair which is on 14th June from 12:00 – 3pm. We are going to have a sports theme for the fair this year as we are approaching the World Cup, Commonwealth Games and Tour de France. Watch out for a sports themed competition coming home from the PTA soon. Please start thinking about whether you can help at the fair as it relies on volunteers. Thank you as well for your help in selling raffle tickets – there is an ever increasing range of great prizes and it is well worth entering the raffle. We also need your help for our non-uniform days when the children come to school in non-uniform in exchange for something for the fair. These are as follows:

Friday 16th May – Please could children bring in Children’s Tombola Prizes

Friday 23rd May Bottle for the Bottle Tombola (unopened) – bubble bath, wine, olive oil, sauce etc.

Friday 13th June – Cakes, chocolate or a prize for a hamper.

Thank you!

Pole2Pole Cycle and Scoot to School - Thank you to everyone who has cycled or scooted to school so far. I am very pleased to say that Lane End is currently in the lead of the Stockport Pole2Pole race. This could all change without your continued support though so please keep going! Please also remember to stay safe and wear a helmet. The race lasts until the end of this half term. As your children arrive at school please could they put their bikes and scooters straight on to the racks (or next to them if they are full!) rather than cycling or scooting around the playground as this is a busy time with lots of people around. Mr Vallance is attaching ‘spot prizes’ to some of the bikes or scooters each day so you may be lucky. Thank you and let’s cycle (or scoot) to victory!

Please remember to go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk and sign up for Lane End Primary School so that your online shopping can benefit school. Thank you very much to everyone who has already signed up. It is early days but if a lot of people help then it could make a big difference to our fundraising.
