October - Newsletter 5 (21st October 2014)

Excellence, Determination, Inspiration, Respect, Courage, Equality, Friendship

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’ve had an enjoyable, busy and successful half term – thank you for all of your support. We break up after school on Friday (24th October) and the children are due back in on Monday 3rd November.

PTA Disco – thank you for all the support for the Disco, it went very well and helped raise a lot of money for the school. A big thank you to the PTA and all the parents who stayed to help.

PTA AGM – it is the PTA AGM on Wednesday from 7:30pm – we’d like to see lots of parents there so please do come if you can.

Harvest –please remember that the children can bring in tinned or dried food for the Wellspring Kitchen tomorrow (Wednesday) as part of our Harvest Assembly. The food helps homeless people in the Stockport area. As mentioned, the Wellspring would particularly appreciate tins of meat for stews, meatball etc. Thank you.

Parents Evening – the sign-up sheet for our parents evenings in November will be available from 8am on Tuesday4th November. Please come in to sign up if you can, otherwise you can phone school to book your appointment.

Poster Competition – We had lots of fantastic entries to our Lane End Values Poster Competition and it was very hard to judge as there were so many good posters – well done and thank you all. Congratulations to our winning entries who were: Ben D in Year 2 (Infant winner) and Lydia S in Year 1 (Infant runner up) and Maddie B in Year 6 (Junior winner) and Bea D in Year 3 (Junior runner up) – we will organise the trip to Simply Books for after the half term holidays. Watch out for posters incorporating these designs and designs by some of the other children as well soon. I am short on posters for the value ‘Respect’ though! So I have set a bonus competition to design a poster for this value by Friday – all of the children can enter and I’ve already seen some posters being drawn at playtimes this week!

A special offer from Junior Sports Stars:  Junior Sport Stars will be running their holiday courses at Bramhall Recreation Centre again next week and they are offering pupils at Lane End Primary School a special deal for booking on any of their courses.

Book a full week on any of the above courses by Thursday 6pm and for £48 your child will get a fun packed full weeks place on any course and FREE early morning drop off from 8:15am. This is our best offer ever and it is solely for children who attend Lane End Primary School. To book please call 0161 222 5676 / 07730 419 982 before Thursday 6pm to claim your child's place. We hope to see lots of you next week.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

 James Twigg
