Dear Parents/Carers,

Upcoming Events:

Walk to School Fortnight – We start our walk to school fortnight on Monday (4th November) and hope as many of you as possible can take part in choosing healthy and environmentally friendly ways to travel to school. Mr Vallance has organised the event and is sending out a letter with your child’s Walk to School Passport attached this week.

We will also be doing some work with the children in assembly on Road Safety and we are having a poster and painting competition in conjunction with Thorneycroft and the Brain Injury Group who will be providing prizes for the competition. More information about this will come home next week.

On Wednesday next week Matthew Walker MBE (world champion paralympic swimmer) will be in school and will talk to the children in assembly and in class about his inspiring life.

Remembrance Day Our Year 2 children will be selling Poppies from Monday next week ready for Remembrance Day the following Monday. We suggest that children bring in a minimum donation of 20p if they would like a poppy. We will have a Remembrance Day assembly for the children on November 11th.

If you have lost your slip then just send the £5 for your ticket in an envelope with a note of what it is for and your name, child’s name and class. All cheques should be made out to ‘Lane End PTA‘.

Governing Body

After many years of being our Local Authority representative on the Governing Body Margaret Hulme has stepped down – thank you to Margaret for all of the time she has given voluntarily to the school. Our new Local Authority Governor is Councillor Suzanne Wyatt and we welcome her to the Governing Body and school.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,
